Sevilla CF's players celebrate after scoring the opening goal against Athletic Club
home defeat of Athletic Bilbao, on early goals from Aleix Vidal and
Carlos Bacca.
Bilbao had veteran keeper Gorka Iraizoz to thank for keeping the
scored down to 2-0, so dominant were the hosts. The defeat left
Bilbao in comfortable eighth place.
It was Sevilla's fourth straight win and it kept them in fifth place,
just one point below fourth-placed Atletico Madrid, who were due to
visit bottom team Cordoba later Saturday.
Atletico are just one point below in-form Valencia in what is turning
out to be a fascinating battle for third place - and thereby direct
entry into the Champions League
